Demarre Carroll’s injury Game 1 against the Cavaliers didn’t look good. People were already assuming he’d be out the entire series with structural damage in his left knee and asking who would guard Lebron James on the Hawks.
CONFIRMED: Demarre Carroll is out for tonight. — 11Alive Hawks (@11AliveSports) May 22, 2015
The injury, however, wasn’t as nearly as bad as everyone expected after it was discovered that there was no ligament damage. Carroll is even warming up and taking shots in preparation for the game. The Hawks will give him more treatment after that and make a game-time decision on his playing status.
Carroll will warm up, take a few shots, get a little more treatment, then the Hawks will make a call. — Kevin Arnovitz (@kevinarnovitz) May 22, 2015
Atlanta will miss its small forward on both ends, but even if he doesn’t play, it’ll be able to survive for a game or two with Kent Bazemore. Carroll was having a career postseason, averaging 16.2 points and 6.4 boards to complement his 42 percent shooting from deep. But if he doesn’t play, that means we’ll get to see more of Bazemore, who gifted us with this dunk Wednesday.
