Vernon Davis spent a part of Tuesday lamenting how the NFL season seems so damn far away on Instagram. He accompanied his thoughts with an absolutely adorable photo of himself looking incredibly sad while holding a football (as we all do during the NFL offseason).
However, it didn’t take long for former 49ers running back Frank Gore (Instagram user fg2132) to see Vernon’s photo and he responded to Vernon’s sentiments in a particularly aggressive manner.

According to For the Win, Gore later deleted the post because that’s what you have to do when you either keep things way too real or have an attempt at humor go horribly, horribly awry.
While Gore isn’t known for putting people on blast via social media (indeed, his Instagram account is his only social media venue), Davis definitely had an off-year last season after he skipped all of the team’s offseason workouts and finished the 2014-15 season with 26 receptions for 245 yards and 2 touchdowns.
For what it’s worth, Davis is attending the 49ers offseason workouts this season.
