Alyssa and Mike Capko went to the Phillies-Mets game on Sunday to celebrate Mother’s Day and their seven month old son Kolton’s first baseball game.
Knowing that they were seated in prime foul ball territory, Mike kept an eagle eye out for any potential foul ball and as luck would have it, a foul ball would find its way towards Mike who snagged the thing barehanded to the delight of the crowd.
The play went over extremely well with everyone in attendance, even the legendary Mike Schmidt, who signed the ball for the young family.
It said: “Congrats on a great Mother’s Day catch 2015 – Mike Schmidt.”
According to Alyssa, the couple’s first Mother’s Day will be impossible to beat.
“No Mother’s Day will ever top the first Mother’s Day we’ve had,” said Alyssa.
It’s going to be hard for any fan to top this one, that’s for sure. Barehanding a baseball is sure to bring you some props in the stands but doing it on Mother’s Day with your seven month old in tow? That’s the type of stuff that gets rejected at a Disney pitch meeting for being “too schmaltzy.”
