The Wizards have been killing it this postseason.
They’ve only lost one game on the road to the team with the best record in the Eastern Conference. Bradley Beal suddenly learned how to attack off the dribble and found his stroke from deep again. Otto Porter realized he could shoot and is playing pretty good defense. It was like the universe was trying to even out having Randy Wittman as their head coach.
And then John Wall took a hard fall late in the second quarter of game 1, fracturing his wrist and hand in five places. Replacing a player averaging 17.4 points and 12.6 assists in the postseason is going to be tough if not impossible, and the Wizards are preparing for the prospect of playing without their franchise player. This should serve as a cruel reminder that the universe is often cruel, and will not play favorites even if Wittman is coaching your squad.
