The Houston Rockets beat their intrastate rival Dallas Mavericks Tuesday night to win their first round series four games to one. As the Rockets were putting the finishing touches on a gentleman’s sweep, the person running the Rockets’ Twitter account — or someone with access to it — sent out a rather ill-advised tweet to their soon-to-be-vanquished opponent.
The tweet was quickly deleted, but this is the Internet, and once it’s out there, it’s out there forever. The Rockets followed up with an apology tweet.
Our Tweet earlier was in very poor taste & not indicative of the respect we have for the @dallasmavs & their fans. We sincerely apologize.
