Baseball doesn’t always produce monster collisions, but when they do, they’re usually meaty, as was the case during the Cincinnati-Louisville game on Tuesday. During Louisville’s 6-2 win, freshman shortstop Devin Hairston laid down a bunt and was attempting to beat it out when he slammed into Cincinnati infielder Kyle Mottice.
Both players were sent flying into the air, with Mottice awkwardly landing on his neck and Hairston demolishing his entire upper body. Hairston was called safe on the play even though Mottice clearly caught the ball and tagged the base before losing it upon hitting the ground. Maybe he was using the NFL’s bizarre possession rules.
