Well, technically only one member of the Black Eyed Peas — will.i.am — is back (he provided the ESPN theme for the 2013 NBA Playoffs). Apparently, the powers that be at ESPN decided Mr. i.am’s solo performance wasn’t enough torture for the viewing audience, so they’ve decided to hire the whole gang to make your ears bleed all over again. Not only that, and lest you think they just re-appropriated some track off a new album (they haven’t released one in five years, by the way), will.i.am, Taboo and apl.de.ap (no, I did not make up those names) recorded a brand new song “to capture the energy and excitement of the action.” It’s called “Awesome”. It is not “awesome”. It is terrible, because the Black Eyed Peas are terrible.
Jalen Rose’s singing is bad enough. Now we gotta deal with this shit?
