The Bakersfield Blaze, a Class A minor league baseball team with a healthy sense of humor, was beaten by the Modesto Nuts on Monday night.
However, the Blaze weren’t merely beaten by their Modesto rivals. They were demolished by a score of 11-3 with all three of Bakersfield’s runs coming in the ninth inning.
So, the person in charge of writing the game summary for the Blaze did what any upstanding paid writer for a losing team SHOULD do – he turned the pain of losing into humor.
Headlines don’t get any better than this:
Dan Besbris: Today’s American hero.
In comparison, the Nuts went with the much more inferior headline “Nuts Club 15 Hits in 11-3 Win.”
