If you’re a baseball player who needs bunting advice, you should probably avoid consulting Rays rookie first baseman Allan Dykstra. It will most likely end poorly for you and your beautiful mug.
Dykstra notched his first career base hit on Monday night in Tampa, but it certainly wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for the 27-year old. While working on his bunting during pregame, Dykstra fouled a ball straight into his own face in what looked to be a very, very painful bit of batting practice.
Arguably the funniest part of Dykstra’s self-inflicted failure was the reaction of his teammate, Tim Beckham, who witnessed it all go down from just behind the batting cage. Beckham’s “OH SHIT!” response was pretty much as perfect as it gets.
