Ranking all-time comedy movies is a relatively pointless exercise, as the genre has changed dramatically over the last few decades. However, it is far from a pointless exercise to appreciate the beauty of this transition and the movies that serve as its foundation.
You could spend countless hours debating whether Tommy Boy or Happy Gilmore is the best comedy of the 1990’s or you could simply watch both and enjoy every damn second of it. You could also spend countless hours arguing whether or not Wayne’s World or Austin Powers is Mike Myers’s best comedic performance of the decade or, once again, you could simply watch both films and appreciate the sincere hilarity of his portrayal of Wayne Campbell and the International Man of Mystery.
