Welp, Ondrej Pavelec is going to want this moment back.
The Winnipeg Jets goaltender was caught sleeping in the final minute of Tuesday’s game against the St. Louis Blues and defenseman Barret Jackman made him pay. With the score tied 4-4, Jackman received a pass off a neutral zone faceoff and launched a shot from center ice, beating a snoozing Pavelec glove side for what would ultimately be the game-winning goal.
As you can imagine, pretty much everyone in the building was shocked to see the Hail Mary beat the veteran goaltender. Honestly, it looked liked he barely even made an effort on the play.
For the Jets, who are the midst of pushing for a playoff spot in the West, that’s not exactly the way you want to surrender at least one point.
Pavelec’s face says it all.
