The San Jose Sharks shut out the Montreal Canadiens out on the West Coast last night but the Habs came very, very close to getting on the board and ruining Alex Stalock’s clean sheet during the third period. Thankfully for Stalock, defenseman Brent Burns came to the rescue with a great play.
Montreal’s David Desharnais backhanded a loose puck past an out-of-position Stalock and it looked like the biscuit was going to find the back of the net until Burns managed to display some great hand-eye coordination and bat it out of mid-air just in the nick of time. Seriously, look how close it was:
The play went to review and officials confirmed the ‘no goal’ ruling, which greatly pleased Burns.

Whoever runs the Sharks’ official Twitter account apparently enjoyed Burns’ reaction to the call, as this is the team’s avatar on Tuesday morning.
I enjoy when official accounts change their profile pic to something silly. pic.twitter.com/VqvnqoCfhU
