Skip Bayless is one of ESPN’s most divisive personalities.
He is divisive in the sense that he’s a walking, talking parody of Twitter hot takes that somehow got a national platform to spew nonsense on a daily basis.
So, for many, this clip from today’s First Take will be their favorite Skip Bayless moment in the show’s history. It is the moment where Skip doesn’t realize that he’s on live TV with his mic turned off. The sound of silence has never been so sweet.
Honestly, the most surprising thing about this clip isn’t that ESPN had technical difficulties, nor that Stephen A. Smith appeared to have the time of his life at his partner’s expense. No, the most surprising thing about this incident is that Skip Bayless apparently does have prepared notes for the show and isn’t just firing random trollish comments off the top of his head when the cameras turn on.
