It’s no secret that CGI and digitally added effects in film have come a long way since the turn of the century, but you may be surprised as just how often they’re used. Obviously, films such as Gravity or 300 wouldn’t be possible without CGI, but digital effects can also play a less-obvious role in Hollywood products and, if done well enough, there’s a good chance you’ll never even notice.
Take, for instance, Martin Scorcese’s The Wolf of Wall Street. It’s not a film you would expect to require a ton of post-production alterations, but this video from Brainstorm Effects shows just how much is actually used. In some instances it’s very subtle, while in others…not so much. It’s pretty incredible to watch.
