The Illinois-Michigan State game saw one of the most bizarre endings of the season. Down by 3 points with 33 seconds remaining, Spartans guard Travis Trice was at the line for a 1-and-1 opportunity. After releasing the first shot, one that he made, Illini guard Jaylon Tate shoved his butt into Trice’s man region.
It was ruled a dead ball technical foul, giving Michigan State two shots plus the ball. After Trice missed the second of his 1-and-1 opportunity, they would miss one of the two technical shots and failed to score on the possession that resulted from the technical. Illinois would ultimately prevail despite one of the most foolish fouls you will ever see.
