DeMarco Murray was easily the best and most productive running back in the NFL in 2014. The former Oklahoma Sooners ball-carrier entered last season with cautious expectations that he could have a decent season behind a young, but talented, offensive line. The result was 1,845 rushing yards on a whopping 392 carries, a figure that tied him for 7th all-time in single season rushing attempts. Murray would add 13 touchdowns and 416 receiving yards in producing one of the best seasons from that position over the last 10-plus years.
However, instead of entering 2015 with a fat guaranteed salary, monster bonuses or high hopes for a new contract, the 5th-year man does not even know where he’ll be playing come September. With many expecting Jerry Jones to pass on offering Murray a new deal, at least one that is respectable and an accurate reflection of his numbers, it appears highly likely that he will move on.
Assuming he does depart Dallas, where will the 2015 rushing champ land?
Now that we can turn the page on last year’s season, it’s time for fan bases to start sipping the delightfully intoxicating and optimistic Kool-Aid as 31 teams try for “better luck next year”. With a good chunk of those teams in need of a dynamic Murray-like runner and in adequate position to make a play for DeMarco Murray, let’s rank the top 10 teams based upon highest likelihood to actually pursue him.
