Russell Wilson might still be one of the league’s more popular players but the Seahawks quarterback has certainly generated a little controversy since his team’s miraculous NFC title game win on Sunday. Professional athletes and other public figures point to their religious beliefs as reasons for various triumphs and thank God for keeping them strong during difficult times, but Wilson took things to a whole new level following his atrociously horrible 4-interception performance.
He told the media that his four interceptions were just God setting it to make things more rewarding and special. While most people are fine with players thanking God for giving them strength and opportunities to complete various tasks, there are apparently a ton of people that are no ok with Wilson borderline blaming his mistakes on God.
After his comments were made public, they were greeted with a barrage of hostile, negative and rather furious reactions from those who think it is pathetic to believe God cares about football. Check out some of the comments from Twitter:
