The Rangers are taking on the Islanders in a Battle of New York at Madison Square Garden tonight and, well, they’re not exactly getting too many lucky bounces on home ice. The Blueshirts had a golden opportunity to take the lead during the first period when Rick Nash put forth a great individual effort and rang the post behind Islanders goalie Jaroslav Halak.
The puck bounced off iron and right to the stick of Derick Brassard, who had a wide open net in front of him. Unfortunately for Brassard, his shot was a bit off target and managed to clang off not one but BOTH posts before ricocheting back towards the front of the net and being covered by Halak. Doesn’t get much more unlucky than that.
As you can imagine, Brassard was pretty stunned.
