As it turns out, a few players were mic’d up for this past weekend’s Wild Card matchup between the Lions and Cowboys, which featured a crucial overturned pass interference call in the fourth quarter. It was an extremely controversial decision that many Lions players and fans were absolutely infuriated over, but it appears that quarterback Matt Stafford – who was one of the players wearing a mic – was not one of them.
If you’re like me, you probably expected Stafford to pretty much lose his mind over the decision, dropping f-bombs all of the place in protest over the game-changing call in a do-or-die game, but it seems like he was more shocked than anything. Stafford just kept walking around the sidelines with his mouth agape, saying “that’s unbelievable.”
Stafford certainly wasn’t wrong in his assessment, but I was a bit disappointed by the lack of fireworks in his response. I have to imagine things would have been a lot explosive if someone like…oh, say…Tom Brady was on the wrong side of a call like this. It would be a bloodbath.
