This year’s Baseball Hall of Fame inductees were just announced and Pedro Martinez will be enshrined in a class that also includes Randy Johnson, John Smoltz, and Craig Biggio. In addition to his 219 wins, 3,154 strikeouts, three Cy Young awards, and one World Series ring, Pedro also takes with him a legacy of being one of the most charismatic athletes in baseball history.
We figured this was a good time to reflect back on one of the best Pedro stories ever told. In 2001, Pedro sat down with a writer from Sports Illustrated for Kids for a series of questions to help youngsters get to know the Red Sox pitcher better. That’s where things got hilarious:
One of my favorite Pedro stories. pic.twitter.com/LZnF21KRD3

Pedro had plenty of legendary performances and quotes throughout his amazing career, but that one…that one…it just might be my favorite. Can we do the guy a solid and get Sandra Bullock to introduce him during the ceremony in Cooperstown? I think he’s earned that much.
