Joe Thornton traveled to Boston on Tuesday, returning to the city where he started his NHL career after being the top overall pick in 1997, as the Sharks faced off against the Bruins at the TD Garden. Thornton was able to net a pretty nifty goal against his former team during the second period when Joe Pavelski tossed a puck towards net and Thornton was able to swat it out of the air and past Tuukka Rask.
In addition to being a pretty nice display of hand-eye coordination, Thornton’s goal gave the Sharks a 3-2 lead and came just 37 seconds after Logan Couture was able to tie the game.
