Major League Baseball has teamed up with Zuckerberg’s crew and are currently broadcasting one spring training game per day live on its Facebook fan page. The games will continue through the end of spring training in April, yet beyond that is still in question. One thing is clear, this is currently a test (ie. streaming movies), but you can expect this to be a regular season thing in the near future. Facebook has recently tried this model with the UFC, streaming live fights if someone “likes” their facebook page. The MLB is positioning this as purely promotional currently to boost sales and visibility of the MLB.TV platform which generates solid revenue each year.
