The USC Trojans don’t have the biggest fans in South Carolina supporters. While Los Angeles and Columbia remain a whopping 2,400 miles away and the two teams have met only twice all-time (1980 & 1983), there is still severe disdain for their distant non-rivals.
Everyone refers to the University of Southern California as USC, for obvious reasons, but no one outside of Columbia refers to the University of South Carolina as USC, a small yet agonizing detail for many Gamecock fans. The Greenville News is not helping that obsession over ‘USC’, as the newspaper used a Trojans logo for their preview of South Carolina’s game with Georgia this weekend….uh oh…
