Today: The Oakland Raiders
Last Year: 4-12 (4th place in AFC West)
This is an attempt to explain the shittiness of the Oakland Raiders by only using pictures. Here we go:
Picture 1: Drafting
Picture 2: Coaches
Picture 3: Quarterbacks
Picture 4: The results
Picture 5: The moral of the story
Last Year’s Stud: Lamarr Houston
Lamarr Houston is 27 years old, is one of the league’s premiere run defenders, and he had six sacks last season … and the Raiders let him walk on over to Chicago in free agency.
Runner-up: Sio Moore
Last Year’s Surprise: Rod Streater
60 receptions was enough to lead the team last season. Streater, a former third-round draft pick, also compiled 888 yards.
Runner-up: Rashad Jennings (Good season? Cool. We’ll let you leave our team in the offseason)
Last Year’s Disappointment: Matt Flynn
Matt Flynn won the lottery. Despite possessing barely any NFL talent, Flynn has made a lot of money.
Runner-up: Darren McFadden
Draft Class
For once, I don’t think the Raiders missed on their first pick. Khalil Mack is the real deal.
Other notable pick: Derek Carr
This Year’s Stud: Khalil Mack
My pick for defensive rookie of the year.
Runner-up: Justin Tuck
This Year’s Surprise: Derek Carr
He’s already shocked everyone by beating out Matt Schaub. It’s kind of funny, Carr has a pretty good shot at having a better year than Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles, and Teddy Bridgewater.
Runner-up: Charles Woodson
This Year’s Disappointment: Maurice Jones-Drew
TIL that MJD is alive and still in the NFL.
Runner-up: James Jones
Fantasy Outlook
Draft early: N/A
Good value in the middle rounds: N/A
Don’t draft: I honestly wouldn’t draft a single Raider.
What Vegas Is Saying (LVH Sports Book): 5 wins
What We’re Saying: 4-12 (4th place in AFC West)
There’s a very real possibility that the Raiders go 0-6 in division play. But because I believe that luck sometimes plays a factor, I think they manage to steal a game at home against the Chiefs. From there, I see the Raiders getting three wins against the Browns, Bills, and maybe the Jets?
Bottom line: this is a bad football team with a rookie quarterback. Expect another typical Raider season.
