San Jose Sharks’ defenseman Jason Demers was in a scuffle and landed a pretty great right. Unfortunately he landed the punch directly to the cheek of linesman Brian Mach. The incident occurred during the 2nd period of Saturday’s game between The Sharks and the Dallas Stars.
Demers explained the incident following the game:
“I wasn’t looking at (Mach) at all, I was looking through him to Ott. Mach sort of jumped in the way, he knew, and he was fine with it. I didn’t have any intention of doing that, it was inadvertant. Things happen in the heat of the moment.”
Regardless of the intent, he hit the linesman VERY hard.
