Incoming NBA rookies had their annual photo shoot over the weekend and, as expected, top overall pick Andrew Wiggins got plenty of attention from the media thanks to the Kevin Love to Cleveland rumors that have been floating ever since LeBron announced his return to the Cavs.
During the event, Wiggins sat down for an interview with ESPN’s Bram Weinstein, who basically bombarded the rookie with questions about a possible trade the entire time. Wiggins, still working on getting comfortable with the media coverage that comes with being the No. 1 pick, got more and more noticeably uncomfortable as the interview progressed. To his credit, though, he managed to handle the tough questions with patience and professionalism.
You almost have to feel bad for the 19-year old. He’s supposed to be having the summer of his life after realizing a lifelong dream and the amazing accomplishment of being top pick in the draft, but instead he’s stuck fielding questions about the possibility of the team that drafted him immediately flipping him to another squad before he’s even played his first official game. Not exactly what he envisioned, I’m sure.
PS – STOP PLAYING WITH YOUR EAR PIECE, ANDREW.
