In addition to a slew of passes and touchdowns, Dez Bryant has also caught a lot of heat over the past couple of years for his short temper. That temper was on display once again at Cowboys practice this weekend when safety J.J. Wilcox laid a big hit on Bryant after a catch over the middle. Dez clearly didn’t like the hit, as he popped up and got straight in Wilcox’s face before the two exchanged punches.
The two were separated and made nice shortly after. Fights between teammates during training camp are nothing new to the NFL, and sometimes they actually benefit the team. Dez’s comments after practice are a good indication this might be one of those times:
“J.J. put a nice hit on me,” the receiver said. “He pissed me off, but at the end of the day, I loved it. I told him, ‘Keep it coming.’ Hopefully the rest of the guys on that defense – not only the defense, but the offense and the whole team – feed off of that. That’s what it takes to win. That’s what we need to win. You’ve got to have that passion and that love for the game.”
