According to multiple sources, Apple will be holding an event next Wednesday, March 2nd, in San Francisco to announce a refresh of its wildly successful iPad. Some are calling it the “iPad 2,” which I think is a little premature given the unknown updates. There has been chatter about the new iPad having a front-facing camera, more RAM, more data capacity, and multimode chips that will allow it to run on both GSM and CDMA networks across the globe. The design will supposedly be slimmer and lighter. If these are the extent of the upgrades to the existing iPad, I’m inclined to call it iPad 1.5; however, if they figured out how to integrate a retina display with the battery life to support it, I’ll call it the iPad 2 and place my order.
