Rain delays are typically no fun in baseball. It usually just involves people sitting around and killing time until the weather subsides and the game starts and/or resumes.
However, a couple members of the Padres weren’t down for playing the waiting game during Tuesday’s rain delay in Philadelphia. Instead, they decided to have a little boyish fun with a slip ‘n slide competition.
As you can see in the video above, San Diego’s Yasmani Grandal and Everth Cabrera made the best of the weather delay by slipping and sliding across the infield tarp while fans looked on in amusement. If I had to pick a winner I’m definitely going with Cabrera, whose slide was so impressive that it took him beyond the tarp and onto the infield grass.
