Tonight’s highly anticipated match-up between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets featured a one-on-one showdown we haven’t seen since last year’s playoffs: Patrick Beverley vs. Russell Westbrook. Beverley is the Rockets guard who ended Westbrook’s 2012-13 season on a collision near mid-court after Westbrook had signaled for a timeout. Beverley ran through the whistle, and knocked knees with Westbrook, causing a meniscus tear, which sidelined him until a few games into the 2013-14 season. Westbrook’s knee flared up again in December, and was sidelined again until after the All-Star break.
As for tonight, people wondered how long it would take for the two to get tangled up. If you guessed within six minutes after the opening tip, you won.
