Wednesday Night Rivalry on NBCSN lived up to its moniker this week as the Capitals visited the Flyers in Philadelphia.
After a slew of physical play and big hits early on, the two squads engaged in a full-out line brawl during the first period. The shenanigans resulted in 56 combined penalty minutes and three game misconducts, issued to Tom Wilson and John Erskine of the Capitals and Philadelphia’s Vincent Lacavalier.
Oddly enough, Wednesday is also the 10th anniversary of the infamous Flyers/Senators game in Philly that racked up an absurd 419 penalty minutes thanks to a handful of late game brawls. The City of Brotherly has never been known for keeping their hands to themselves, has it?
