While Phil Kessel has been tearing it up against the international competition in Sochi, he’s also been upholding his tradition of forging epic battles off the ice. After he dominated a bottle of Powerade like you wouldn’t believe last week, Kessel had another intense showdown against a personal arch nemesis – smelling salts – on the bench during Team USA’s quarterfinals game against the Czech Replublic on Wednesday.
It looked like the salts had Kessel against the ropes there, but he wound up scoring his fifth goal of the tournament later in the game so we’ll call it a draw.
