David Backes buried a sick goal in the closing seconds of Wednesday’s quarterfinal matchup between USA and the Czech Republic in Sochi. Backes was set up near the goal line when he wrangled a fortunate bounce off the boards and was able to fire a shot past Czech goaltender Ondrej Pavelec with just over one second remaining on the game clock.
As you can see in the GIF below, Backes’ shot juuuuuust managed to squeeze through Pavelec’s glove and pad for a 3-1 Team USA lead.
