Missing a De La Soul album? Good news! Starting tomorrow at 11AM EST the group will be giving away their entire catalog FOR FREE(!!!) for 25 hours only via the group’s website. The special Valentine’s Day release coincides with the 3 Feet High and Rising 25th anniversary.
Due to the crazy amount of unlicensed samples used on their songs, the influential albums cannot be sold on iTunes. The samples are a problem, but De La Soul member, Posdnuous, says the group has “been working very hard to get that solved.”
Speaking with Rolling Stone, Posdnuous said of the 25 hour release, “Its about allowing our fans who have been looking and trying to get a hold of our music to have access to it, its been too long where our fans haven’t had access to everything. This is our way of showing them how much we love them.”
Not only will they be releasing their current discography, but De La will be adding to it. In the coming months the group plans to release new material from their upcoming album, You’re Welcome.
