Phil Mickelson had a little fun on Saturday during the third round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and he did so by tossing footballs to some fans while on the 16th hole. After tossing about ten footballs to lucky fans, Phil just couldn’t get back on track and he blamed the football tossing for him losing focus. Maybe next time stick to golf?
According to Eye on Golf:
Lefty threw about 10 footballs right-handed into the crowd and regretted it after his round, according to Brian Wacker of PGATour.com.
“I think it’s the last time I’m going to do that, because mentally I was thinking about throwing it a couple holes prior,” Mickelson said. “It took me out of my element. I hit the worst shot imaginable on that 16th hole, and then I followed with four other terrible ones. It was just some of the worst shots imaginable.
“I just lost focus, and I think a lot of it was due to the fact that I have never done something like that on the 16th hole. I thought it was going to be fun, and it kind of took away my focus.”
Hopefully Phil learned his lesson.
