50 years ago this month, Blue Ribbon Sports was founded by University of Oregon track athlete Philip Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman. In their first year, BRS sold 1,300 pairs of running shoes grossing $8,000. Flash forward to present times and Nike’s revenues in 2013 were a staggering $25.3 billion.
