One of my favorite artists from 2013 was 23 year old singer-songwriter Winston Yellen, aka Night Beds. His debut album, Country Sleep, came out early last year after a couple EP releases. Right away he gained attention across the country for his hybrid style of a folk singer-songwriter mixed with alternative country.
Yellen is back with a new single, “Head For the Hills,” and it brings everything you’d expect from Night Beds and then some. The drum heavy track features a loud chorus full of guitars, strings, and that sentimental voice to make one of Night Beds heaviest songs yet. No word yet if this is just a single release or something from an upcoming Country Sleep follow-up, I’m hoping for the latter.
Yellen and the rest of Night Beds are heading out on tour with Lord Huron starting January 22nd.
