The Carolina Hurricanes might be without their enforcer Kevin Westgarth for a few games after the hit Westgarth delivered Sunday against the Senators. He’ll likely be hearing from the Department Of Player Safety after this ugly hit on Mark Borowiecki, a clear and dangerous boarding infraction.
Early in the first period, Borowiecki lost his footing as he carried the puck around his own net. As the Sens’ defenseman tried to re-establish himself, Westgarth checked him headfirst into the boards from behind.
Borowiecki left the game under his own power but didn’t return.
