The Philippines were horrifically ravaged by Typhoon Haiyan on November 8 leaving thousands dead and an astounding 4 million people displaced. While the country buries their deceased and attempts to put back their lives these young men used the happy distraction of basketball to forget about their horrors just for a little while. An AP correspondent captured the images of these Filipinos escaping their harsh reality through a pickup basketball game on a make-shift court in Tacloban, the city which took the brunt of the most severe typhoon in history. Another example of sports providing relief to those in dire situations.
