Disgraced Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is a huge fan of the Toronto Argonauts, however the Toronto Argonauts are not a huge fan of Rob Ford. The Argonauts even had to issue a statement about Ford wearing their jersey during a press congress:
It’s well-known that the Mayor is a big fan and supporter of the game of football. The Toronto Argonauts organization is not in a position to comment on the manner of dress of public officials. The situation with respect to the Mayor and his leadership is unseemly at best. These latest remarks, while wearing our team’s jersey, are particularly disappointing given our organization’s work in the community to help youth deal with issues of bullying prevention. We hope for the benefit of the wonderful citizens of Toronto and this great city that this situation is resolved expeditiously.
Everybody’s favorite crack-smoking mayor was excited that his team was in the playoffs against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and stepped away from his scandalous political life to watch the game. Ford received a hero’s welcome Rogers Centre in Ontario and people flocked to the mayor for autographs and well-wishing. However some were not welcoming and threw a beer at Ford. Much to Ford’s disapproval the Argo were upset by the Tiger-Cats by the score of 36-24, eliminating them from the playoffs. Now it can be said that the Argos and Ford both go down at home. Apparently much like Ford, the Argonauts had more than enough cats than they can handle at home.
