The Denver Broncos have been rumored to be a team potentially interested in trading up for a quarterback in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. And according to former Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, the team may just do so for one quarterback in particular.

Denver currently holds the No. 12 pick in the draft. If they decide to stick at the pick, they may have very few first-round options when it comes to the quarterback position. Especially considering the team is reportedly interested in Michigan product J.J. McCarthy.

Manning recently spoke about the Broncos upcoming draft day plans on a recent radio appearance, saying that the team is indeed “very interested” in drafting McCarthy.

“I know Denver is very interested in him and it sounded like a place he’d love to come to but it’s a little bit out of his control,” Manning said in an appearance on Denver Sports 104.3.

Manning of course played for the organization from 2012-2015, helping them win a Super Bowl in the 2015-2016 season. So chances are he still has some ties to the organization and does know a bit about the team’s draft strategy heading into the first round.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton and GM George Paton has been pretty outward about their likelihood of trading up in the draft for the right player. And we now know that the right player in their mind could very well be J.J. McCarthy.

One question that remains, however, is which team will be the team that trades down in a potential deal with the Broncos. The Los Angeles Chargers at No. 5 overall seem like a possibility, as they of course already have their quarterback of the future in Justin Herbert.

Regardless, don’t be shocked to see the Broncos make a huge play for McCarthy in the coming days.
