Taylor Swift has grown even more popular in recent months after she began dating Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce, forming perhaps the most famous power couple on the planet. And in her newest album, Swift used her massive fame to take a shot at another A-list celebrity – Kim Kardashian.
In her new song “thanK you aIMee” – which cleverly capitalizes the letters K, I, and M to spell out “Kim” – Taylor Swift appears to call out Kim Kardashian for being a bully to her throughout the years, stemming from the incident in 2009 when Kanye West – the ex-husband of Kardashian – jumping on stage at MTV VMAs to declare that Swift didn’t deserve an award.
Kardashian has since defended Kanye several times since the incident, calling Swift a liar and even appearing to call her a “snake” at one point. In the song, Swift paints “Aimee” – who quite clearly is supposed to be Kardashian – as a sort of high school bully that she dreams of escaping.
“When I picture my hometown
There’s a bronze spray-tanned statue of you
And a plaque underneath it
That threatens to push me down the stairs, at our school”
The chorus of the song makes it pretty clear that Swift did not appreciate Kardashian’s bullying.
“All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’
And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel
Screamed “[expletive] you, Aimee” to the night sky, as the blood was gushin’
But I can’t forget the way you made me heal”
“Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman
But she used to say she wished that you were dead
I pushed each boulder up the hill
Your words are still just ringing in my head, ringing in my head”
Needless to say, it’s pretty horrible news for Kardashian that the biggest artist on the planet called her out in such a clear way, and people had a lot to say about it on social media.
