Over the past several months, it’s become pretty clear that the New York Jets intended to trade quarterback Zach Wilson after his continued struggles with the team. It sounds like that is still the case, but they want to make sure they get a good return for him.

During a recent press conference, New York Jets general manager Joe Douglass made it clear that the team has indeed decided that they are open to trading Zach Wilson but claimed that the team still sees him as “an asset,” which could explain why the team has not been willing to part with him just yet.

“I know you guys talked to Woody about Zach and my thoughts are in line with Woody,” Douglas said SNY. “Zach is an asset. At that same time, we’re obviously open to trading Zach. There have been discussions, nothing’s really changed since we talked down in Florida. We’re open to trading him, there’s just no update on that.”

We’ll have to see whether or not the Jets are able to find a trade partner for Wilson this offseason. But it does seem like the team has decided to part ways with him as long as they get what they want in return.
