Through just six seasons as a starter, Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has already established himself as one of the most dominant and accomplished quarterbacks in NFL history. But he thinks it’s far too early to start comparing him to players like Tom Brady.

During a recent interview with Time Magazine, Patrick Mahomes made it clear that he thinks he is “nowhere near” GOAT status compared to what a player like Tom Brady accomplished during his playing career.

“You have to build a consistency of a career,” Mahomes told Time. “You see that in any sport. I’ve had a great run. I think I’ve done a great job so far. But it’s hard to take away from what Tom did for so long, what Peyton Manning did, or Aaron Rodgers. There are so many guys, they were at such a high level for such a long time. In order to be in that conversation, you have to do that on a year-to-year basis. You can’t take it for granted that you did it the year before.”

Of course, Mahomes could still get there. If he continues to win Super Bowls at this pace, he will certainly pass Brady in the debate. He’s just not there yet.
