It’s widely been expected that the New England Patriots were going to select a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft considering the struggles the team has had at that position in recent years between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, coupled with the fact that the Patriots did not bring in another veteran quarterback during free agency. But it sounds like the Patriots might not be committed to that, after all.

During a press conference this week, New England Patriots director of scouting and de facto general manager Eliot Wolf answered “no” when asked if the team was set on selecting a quarterback in the first round, and made it clear that the team would be open for anything – including trading down in the draft.

“We’re open to anything. Moving up, moving down. We’re open for business in the first round and every round,” Wolf said.

Obviously, this is pretty shocking news given that everyone has been expecting the team to select a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.

We’ll have to see what happens, but this could make the draft very interesting.
