Women’s college basketball has risen in popularity greatly thanks to Iowa star Caitlin Clark and her excellence on the court. But even before Caitlin Clark really rose to stardom, the Cavinder twins at the University of Miami gained a huge following thanks to their own abilities on the court.

Hanna and Haley Cavinder helped lead Miami to the Elite Eight in the 2022-23 season, where they ultimately fell to the eventual champions, the LSU Tigers led by Angel Reese.

Last offseason, they surprisingly announced that they would be taking the 2023-24 season off, which was obviously a shock because the two were amongst the brightest stars in the sport.

On Wednesday, the two announced that they will be returning to college basketball to use their final season of eligibility. But in perhaps a bit of a surprise, the two will not be playing together next year.

Hanna Cavinder will be returning to Miami, while Haley will instead be playing at TCU after previously entering the transfer portal.

It will be interesting to see how the two perform on their respective teams. Of the two, Haley had the better season the last time they played, averaging 12.2 points per game and 4.9 rebounds in the 2022-23 season. Hanna meanwhile averaged just 3.8 points while averaging just 16.6 minutes per game.

The two have only increased their popularity on social platforms since stepping away from the game of basketball. So there certainly should be plenty of buzz around the two returning to the sport next season.
