LIV Golf Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

LIV Golf has done a great job at bringing in some of the top talents in the sport to their league. Yet, the ratings for the league haven’t quite followed. And according to LIV star Brooks Koepka, that may be an issue with the sport in general.

In a recent conversation with Caleb Pressley of Barstool Sports, Koepka was asked a rather silly question, whether golf would be more fun to watch if it were football.

This prompted Koepka to admit that golf was “a little boring”.

Pressley then asked whether this was a problem with golf overall, or if it was simply an issue with LIV Golf. And Koepka didn’t hold back about his thoughts on the LIV Golf product.

“A bit of both,” said Koepka about the “boring” product of LIV Golf potentially holding back viewership ratings.

Now, there are a few factors about this interview that need to be considered. Caleb Pressley typically does satirical interviews of many popular athletes, asking them off-the-cuff questions that they are typically stumped by.

So whether Koepka actually believes these things about LIV Golf and golf, in general, can certainly be up for interpretation.

However, you have to think that there is at least some element of truth here for Koepka. Maybe golf is just something that he happens to be excellent at and not a game that he particularly even enjoys all that much.

Koepka has said that golf was “boring to him” in the past. So this certainly could be a very genuine comment from him about how he currently feels about the sport.

Regardless of whether or not Koepka even loves golf, he sure gets paid a pretty penny to play for LIV Golf. He signed a four-year $130 million contract in 2022 to join the Saudi-backed golf league.
