Over the past couple of days, rumors began to swirl that Rory McIlroy had been offered a massive contract by LIV Golf and he was considering a move to the Saudi-backed league. But it doesn’t sound like McIlroy will be leaving the PGA Tour, after all.

On Tuesday, Rory McIlroy addressed the rumors and made it clear that he has not received an offer from LIV golf and has no intention of joining LIV Golf.

“I honestly don’t know why these things get started,” McIlroy said. “I’ve never been offered a number from LIV and I’ve never contemplated going to LIV.

“I think I’ve made it clear over the past two years that I don’t think it’s something for me. Doesn’t mean that I judge people that have gone and played over there. I think one of the things that I have realized over the past two years is people can make their own decisions for whatever they think is best for themselves and who are we to judge them for that.”

“It’s never even been a conversation for us,” McIlroy continued. “I’m obviously here today, I’m playing this PGA Tour event next week, and I will play the PGA Tour for the rest of my career.”

It’s obviously a pretty firm declaration, and the people had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.

So it appears McIlroy isn’t going anywhere.
