PGA Tour star Rory McIlroy has been a huge advocate for the tour amidst their ongoing battle for interest in the golf world with LIV Golf. But recent reports suggest that McIlroy could shockingly turn the tables soon and ultimately join the Saudi-backed golf league in a potentially historic move.

McIlroy, one of the PGA Tour’s biggest stars, has openly spoken out against LIV Golf since its inception. Despite talks of a merger between LIV and the PGA Tour, not much progress has come of it actually coming to fruition.

Now, McIlroy could potentially be the latest PGA Tour star to jump ship for LIV. According to City A.M., multiple sources with knowledge of the situation believe that McIlroy is “close to” a deal to join LIV. They also claimed that LIV has offered McIlroy $850 million along with a small percent equity in the league.

If this report is to be believed, it would certainly be a complete shift in opinion on the league from McIlroy, which is a bit shocking, to say the least.

However, he would not be the only PGA Tour star to change their tune about LIV Golf. Jon Rahm, one of the best golfers in the world, famously mocked LIV’s 54-hole format before later joining the league.

It will sure be interesting to see whether or not these rumors end up turning into a reality in the coming days. But regardless, fans had plenty to say about the possibility on social media.
