One of the most electric players in the history of Michigan Wolverines football now finds himself in legal trouble, with ESPN Adam Rittenberg reporting that Denard Robinson was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI).
According to Rittenberg, the 33-year-old Robinson was arrested after being involved in a single vehicle crash in Ann Arbor at approximately 3:05 a.m. on Monday morning. Additional charges are pending the results of a toxicology report.
In addition to being a Wolverines legend, Robinson has been a member of Michigan’s football staff since 2022, serving as the program’s assistant director of player personnel.

A four-star prospect coming out of Florida’s Deerfield Beach High School in 2009, Robinson proved to be one of the few bright spots for Michigan during the Rich Rodriguez and Brady Hoke eras. In four seasons in Ann Arbor, the 2010 Big Ten MVP completed 57.2 percent of his passes for 6,250 yards, 49 touchdowns and 39 interceptions, while adding 4,495 rushing yards and 42 rushing touchdowns on the ground.
In addition to being named the 2010 Big Ten MVP, Robinson was a 2010 All-American and the 2011 Gator Bowl MVP. He remains Michigan’s all-time leader in total offense (10,745 yards), with his 4,495 rushing yards ranking second in program history behind Mike Hart.
Following his prolific college career, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Robinson in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons playing running back for the Jaguars, rushing for 1,041 yards and five touchdowns in 54 regular-season games.
